Zhaga Standards for LED Modules and Lighting System

The lighting industry is used to working with standardized light sources. LED technology offers many benefits, but the lack of specifications can make it difficult to exchange one LED light source for another.

Zhaga is a global association of lighting companies that is standardizing interfaces of components of LED luminaires, including LED light engines, LED modules, LED arrays, holders, electronic control gear (LED drivers) and connectivity fit systems. This helps to streamline the LED lighting supply chain, and to simplify LED luminaire design and manufacturing. Its overall aim is to develop interface specifications that allow LED light sources from different suppliers to be used interchangeably, without changing the luminaire design. In turn, this should speed up the adoption of LEDs for general lighting.

Zhaga Interface & Smart Street Lighting

Different from the previous NEMA standard intelligent interface, zhaga has a smaller volume, a more flexible installation method, and a wider range of applications. In the future, the application direction of zhaga will not only stop at the management of outdoor street lights, but also combine network communication technology to create a “smart pole” in the lighting industry. A single pole can carry road lighting, traffic instructions, information display, environmental monitoring, Multiple functions such as video surveillance, radio frequency identification, notification broadcasting, charging facilities, and wireless networks can be used as an access terminal for building a smart city, which is called an integrated/multifunctional pole.
